The Longest Day

Another hot day no cool change in sight
Looks like another sleepless night,

Tossing and turning on top of my bed
Searching for a cool place to rest my head,

I need to refresh myself with a cool treat
I don't know what to do there's no sign of relief,

Bushfires raging all over the place
Homes disappearing without a trace,

Looking out my window
I can see people passing by,

Looking up and praying
For drops of rain from the sky,

The hot weather makes my head ache
Another hot day I don't think I can take,

This day seems to have gone on forever
There's just no way to cool down this hot weather,

I wish I could close my eyes and erase today
And make this dreadful day go away
